Spending the day in Heber/Midway! (5/23/09)

I love to go out to eat at yummy places, who doesn't? But one of our favorites is the Dairy KCheck Spellingeen in Heber. It's a little far to go often, but when we do it's always a great time. This time we went with some friends, the Slaughs. We met up there and had a lovely lunch which consisted of kids meals, delicious train burgers, and shakes. Jeff's family owns the place so it's fun to go visit them all and catch up.

After lunch we attempted to hit a park near by but the rain was thinking we should do something else, so we headed to the Slaughs family retreat in Midway. It was beautiful up there! Everything was spring green and so peaceful.
We did all sorts of fun things; games, ate, blew bubbles, ate, rode way fun scooters, ate.... Carter was brave and volunteered to go on the scooter first. After that all the kids were hooked. Jeff and Steve took turns with the kids over and over again all around the neighborhood and the near by hills. I even got brave enough and figured it out. It was a little wobbly at first with Jeff riding with me trying to give instructions and freaking out...(he has control issues). I was laughing so loud! It was great!

In the evening we had yummy pizza for dinner and then it was Smores time over the fire. The kids love Smores, or really anything they can watch burn. I really don't know how many marshmallows actually got eaten.

Hailey's family was so nice and I wouldn't mind hanging out with them any day. ;0)

At one point during the day the guys came up with the bright idea of trying to hit another person with a tennis ball as hard as you possibly could. Poor Carter got hit right in the nose accidentally by Dad... blood was practically squirting out as he screamed. Luckily nothing was broken and most of the blood ended up on the grass. Way to go Carter for saving the shirt!

After visiting and enjoying our evening immensely, we headed home. Thank you so much Slaughs for opening your retreat to us. It really was such a fun and relaxing time!!
